Something new

New Year’s resolutions aren’t a big deal at my house. I don’t remember the last time I resolved to do anything special for the occasion. But, it’s always good to try something new no matter what time of year it is.

Jasmine is on a new, all-natural diet, which she loves. She has store-bought dry food, plus keep-frozen raw food, plus hand-fed crunchy treats for reducing tartar. (She likes Ocean Fish flavour the best.) Already I can see she’s lost weight, and she’s in a better mood – or maybe that’s the organic catnip.

I decided to look for another way to reduce the tension in my hips and legs so I can walk normally. The situation is worse now than when I started physiotherapy a year ago. So, I’m trading in the physio for yoga, meditation, and an evaluation by a chiropractor.

I’ve been practicing Kundalini yoga for about a month. It stretches the spine and encourages energy flow along specific channels (“meridians”) in the body. I figure energy flow should be good for mobility. Meditation is just relaxing in general. My muscles are definitely less tense, and sometimes I can actually feel energy flowing through my legs.  Meanwhile, Jasmine seems to be full of Kundalini without really trying.

I’m still waiting to see the chiropractor. But even if he can’t help me, I’ll know to try something else next time.

Best of luck with your resolutions, and Happy New Year!
